Update

I'm working on setting up community based field trips to a variety of places including Explore 'N more, Bowling, Cox Farms, and more!

In addition, I'm working on putting together notebooks commonly known as "B.E.E. Notebooks" (Bring Everything Everyday). They will be ready and functional for the first day of school.

40 days and counting!

Welcome!

It's the obligatory first post. Welcome!

This journal is geared towards families in Ms. Stern's classroom to keep you updated as to what we are working on, mastering, and the inevitable roadblocks along the way. I'll be posting helpful links, websites, games, and sometimes, great opportunities.

A little about me. My name is Diana Stern. This is my second year teaching in the City of Manassas and my first year at Weems Elementary School. My first year was spent in 1st grade at Baldwin Elementary. I grew up on Long Island in New York until I was 17. After that, I headed to Western New York where I completed my undergraduate work at SUNY Geneseo in Psychology and obtained my Masters in Childhood and Special Education from St. John Fisher College. For the summers of 2001-2003, I worked in a summer program for children with Special Needs run through the Wantagh Foundation on Long Island. All the students were school age and participated in various activities that mixed school and camp for a fun filled 30 day program. From August 2004 until August of 2006, I worked for Pittsford Central Schools in Special Education as an Instructional Assistant. During the school year I was in the Middle School and during the summers, I was with students in Kindergarten-2nd grade.

Outside of school, I spend time reading, scrapbooking, traveling, and preparing for my upcoming wedding in July of '08.

I'm really excited about the upcoming school year and working with your children. If you need anything, please never hesistate to contact me.
