Finally, an update!

Alright, an update.

Bowling for our field trip was great! The boys loved it. We tried to get them to properly put their fingers in the hole and throw it down the lane. This strategy worked better with some than with others, as is everything. However, everyone enjoyed it. The teachers also bowled and as she will tell you, Mrs. Robertson won.

Things in the classroom have been going well. We created a class turkey and the feathers say what each child is thankful for.
Grant is thankful for: brothers, toys, mom, dad, and letters.
Darius is thankful for: Thomas, Wii, Mom, Daniel, and family and friends.
Patrick is thankful for: toys, cubes, Sean, sister, mom and dad.
David is thankful for: Wii, mom, dad, sissy, and computers.
Sunny is thankful for: sports, friends, mom, dad, and sisters.

Remember that Wednesday is an early dismissal day!

Everyone has been reading up a storm. We've been taking advantage of our subscription to Reading A-Z and have been printing out books for the boys. Sunny read his first book entitled "Big"! It was a huge success in our room. Darius, Patrick, Grant and David all continue to move along and are becoming more independent in their reading. No longer are we giving them words but rather having them use their strategies to try to figure them out.

In math, we've been working on fact families in both addition and subtraction. This is an easier concept for some than for others.

We've also been using timers for prized time. They can earn centers, such as legos, but only for so long and once the timer goes off, it's back to something else. It's been interesting to watch their faces once the timer goes off. Overall, it's been working well though with little complaining about giving up such prized time.

David lost his first tooth this past week and it was huge news in our room. All the boys pitched in to help him learn how to "twist the tooth" out! It was great! We also wish him a happy 7th birthday on Sunday.

Hope you all have a great weekend!!!

:-)
